Rising soprano, Erica Marie Ferguson, has been praised for her “grace, beauty and operatic power” (P.G. Sentinel). In her 2019-20 season, Erica performs Ginevra in Handel's Ariodante and the Rooster and Woodpecker in Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen with the Maryland Opera Studio. She also debuts with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in their "Holiday Joy" concerts and the Prince George's Philharmonic as the soprano soloist in Fauré's Requiem.

A highlight from Ms. Ferguson's 2018-19 season was performing the title role in the world premiere of Elisabeth Mehl Greene's Hajar at Maryland Opera Studio. Other roles with Maryland Opera Studio include First Bridesmaid in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Laura Hildebrand in Weill's Street Scene, Jessie cover in Weill's Mahagonny Songspiel, and Toy Fairy cover in Weill's Zaubernacht. Through the studio's opera scenes concerts, she explored the roles of Tatiana in Eugene Onegin, Elletra in Idomeno, and Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring. This season also saw her debut with the Capital City Symphony and her return to Annapolis Opera for their Arias & Encores concert.

In Summer of 2019, Erica sang the title role in Gilbert and Sullivan's Princess Ida with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company.

Previously, she performed at the Miami Music Festival and the Washington National Opera Institute.

During her undergraduate studies at Towson University, Erica performed Contessa d'Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, and Lola Markham in Douglas Moore's Gallantry. She performed opera scene excerpts as Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così fan tutte and the title role in Massenet's Cendrillon. Additionally, Erica performed with Annapolis Opera for three seasons in their children’s opera outreach productions.

Ms. Ferguson completed her M.M. at the University of Maryland as a member of the Maryland Opera Studio. She holds a B.M. Degree in Vocal Performance from Towson University.

She studies with soprano, Carmen Balthrop.
